Shubhada Varadkar
Book a Class

Productions

Ram Ratan Dhan

A tribute to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar — her devotional, patriotic and cinematic songs rendered in classical dance vocabulary.

Shubhada Varadkar in a red Odissi costume, one leg lifted mid-movement.

An innovative concept translating iconic playback melodies into classical dance, widely appreciated for its originality.

Conceived and curated by Shubhada Varadkar, the production is not a conventional tribute concert: Lata Mangeshkar’s music becomes the foundation for a journey through Indian classical dance. The repertoire takes in abhangs, Meera bhajans, devotional compositions, ghazals, iconic film songs and patriotic compositions.

Five traditions on one stage

It is a multi-classical production, drawing on Odissi for lyrical movement and expressive abhinaya, Bharatanatyam for rhythmic precision and dynamic geometry, Kathak for lyrical expression and rhythmic virtuosity, Manipuri for grace and devotional delicacy, and Mohiniyattam for flowing, lyrical elegance. The programme moves through bhakti, shringara, viraha, ghazal and desh before a multi-classical ensemble finale.
